Fluminense won the Roberto Gomes Pedrosa Tournament, known as Robertão, a national competition that the CBF recognized in 2010 as the Brazilian Championship. The title was the club's first at the national level.

History

The Roberto Gomes Pedrosa Tournament was held between 1967 and 1970 and brought together clubs from various states. In 2010, the CBF began recognizing these editions, as well as the Copa Brasil from 1959 to 1968, as Brazilian Championships. In 1970, Fluminense lifted the Robertão trophy and wrote the first chapter in its history of national titles. The conquest had the Maracanã as the main stage and made the tricolored team one of the great forces of Rio de Janeiro football in that early decade. With official recognition from the CBF, Fluminense's 1970 title became part of the club's count of Brazilian Championships, which later won the competition in 1984, 2010, and 2012. That is why the 1970 team is remembered as the one that opened Fluminense's list of national conquests.
