Fluminense 2010

Fluminense in 2010 won the Brazilian Championship under the command of Muricy Ramalho. The team had Fred and Deco among the highlights and ended a drought of national titles that lasted since 1984.

History

Fluminense arrived at 2010 after a season marked by the fight against relegation in 2009 and by the recovery campaign known as "Team of Warriors". In 2010, the club hired Muricy Ramalho, an experienced coach and Brazilian champion with São Paulo and Fluminense, and strengthened the squad with Deco. The team relied on consistency and teamwork, with Fred as the main reference in the attack. The team played their home games at Engenhão, because the Maracanã was under renovation for the 2014 World Cup. The 2010 Brazilian Championship was the club's third, after 1970 and 1984. Two years later, Fluminense would win the national championship again, in 2012.
