Fluminense 2012
Fluminense 2012 was the team commanded by Abel Braga that won the Brazilian Championship that year. Fred finished as the competition's top scorer and Deco was named the tournament's best player.
History
Fluminense arrived at 2012 as the reigning Brazilian champion from 2010, a title won under the command of Muricy Ramalho. In the following season, the team came to be managed by Abel Braga and maintained the base of experienced players that sustained the team. The campaign in the 2012 Brazilian Championship was built around the striker Fred, top scorer of the competition with 20 goals, and midfielder Deco, elected the championship's star. Thiago Neves, goalkeeper Diego Cavalieri and speed players, such as Wellington Nem, completed the group that led the club to the title. The 2012 title was Fluminense's fourth Brazilian Championship in history, as the club had already won the tournament in 1970, 1984 and 2010. With it, the club established itself as one of the main protagonists of Brazilian football in the early 2010s. The season was also marked by the fact that the Maracanã was closed for renovation for the 2014 World Cup, which forced the club to play matches in other stadiums in the state of Rio de Janeiro.
