Founded in 1902, Fluminense is one of the most traditional clubs in Rio de Janeiro and Brazilian football. Champion of the Copa Libertadores in 2023.
History
Fluminense Football Club was founded on July 21, 1902, being one of the pioneers of football in Brazil. The club introduced several practices to Brazilian football and trained generations of talented players in its youth categories. Throughout the twentieth century, the club won several state and national titles, recognized for its tradition and player development. Estádio das Laranjeiras was the club's first home before moving to Maracanã for larger matches. In 2023, Fluminense lived its most historic moment by winning the Copa Libertadores for the first time, defeating Boca Juniors in the final held in Rio de Janeiro, under coach Fernando Diniz.
