Fortaleza Esporte Clube is one of the most popular clubs in Ceará and Northeast Brazil. Founded in 1918, the club went through decades of rebuilding until consolidating itself in the elite of national football in the 2000s and 2010s. It is two-time champion of the Northeast Cup and a reference in regional football.

History

Fortaleza was founded in 1918 and for many years competed between the first and second divisions of national football. The club experienced its great rise in the late 2010s, achieving promotion to Serie A and establishing itself among the country's biggest teams. Two-time Northeast Cup champion, the Lion of Pici has a passionate fan base that filled the Castelão on several historic occasions.
