Foz Cataratas

Foz Cataratas

Women's football club based in Foz do Iguaçu, in Paraná, which stood out as one of the main forces in the Brazilian Women's Football Championship in the first half of the 2010s.

History

Foz Cataratas emerged in Foz do Iguaçu in the context of the expansion of Brazilian women's football in the early 2010s, when several inland cities began to invest in competitive teams to compete in the Brazilian Women's Football Championship. In the first half of that decade, the club became one of the protagonists of the elite of national women's football, regularly facing traditional teams such as São José, Ferroviária and Centro Olímpico, and helping to put the interior of Paraná on the map of the sport. Over time, changes in the sponsorship scenario and in the organization of women's competitions in Brazil impacted the continuity of several clubs of that generation, including Foz Cataratas, which reduced its competitive activity in the following years.
