Friburgo Futebol Clube

Historic club from the mountainous region of Rio de Janeiro state, Friburgo FC is one of the oldest clubs in the interior of Rio de Janeiro. With strong tradition in regional football, the club participated in memorable campaigns in the Campeonato Carioca.

History

Friburgo FC was founded in 1913 in the homonymous city in the Rio de Janeiro mountains. As one of the first clubs in the region, it helped spread football in the mountains of Rio de Janeiro. It actively participated in the Campeonato Carioca since its early editions. The Euclidão stadium became famous for the passionate atmosphere of Friburgo fans. From the 1960s to 1980s, the club won titles and revealed several players who built careers at larger clubs. The Friburgo tradition remains alive to this day.
