History

Founded in 1931, Granada CF represents the Andalusian city of Granada in Spanish football. The club competed in La Liga during the 1970s and 1980s, building an identity marked by combativeness and the loyalty of its fans in both the highest and lowest periods of national expression. After periods of financial instability, the club underwent a transformation with the arrival of Chinese investors from the Desports group in 2016. Under new management, Granada achieved promotion to La Liga in 2019 and surprised European football by advancing to the quarter-finals of the Europa League in the 2020-21 season, eliminating Napoli along the way. Estadio Nuevo Los Cármenes, inaugurated in 1995 with a capacity of over 22,000 spectators, boasts one of the most unique panoramas in world football: the majestic Alhambra in the background provides an incomparable setting for matches played at night. Granada remains an example of a club that combines centuries of history with ambitions for growth, proudly representing one of Spain's most beautiful and culturally rich cities.
