History
Grêmio Foot-Ball Porto Alegrense was founded on September 15, 1903, in Porto Alegre. The club's colors are blue, black, and white, and it is known as Tricolor. In the 1960s, the team played its home matches at Estádio Olímpico Monumental, which was inaugurated in 1954. It was in this setting that the tricolor team built its greatest sequence in the state championship. Between 1962 and 1968, Grêmio won seven consecutive editions of the Rio Grande do Sul State Championship, the seven consecutive titles. Striker Alcindo was one of the main goal scorers of the period. The sequence was interrupted in 1969, when Internacional won the state title and began its own series of consecutive titles. This page covers the period from 1962 to 1968.
