Grêmio Foot-Ball Porto Alegrense (Women's)
Grêmio's women's team, one of the most traditional clubs in Rio Grande do Sul football, which competes in the Brazilian Women's Championship and the Rio Grande do Sul Women's Championship.
History
Grêmio's women's football was restructured in the 2010s as part of the professionalization movement of the sport in Brazil, driven by CBF (Brazilian Football Confederation) requirements for elite men's clubs to maintain women's teams. Since then, the team has competed in state and national competitions, using the club's training center infrastructure in Porto Alegre. Over the years, the Grêmio team has sought to establish itself among the main forces of Rio Grande do Sul women's football, competing in the Rio Grande do Sul Women's Championship against rivals such as Internacional. The team also participated in editions of the Brazilian Women's Championship in different divisions, facing structural difficulties common to Brazilian women's football at the time. The club has gradually invested in infrastructure and women's youth categories, aligned with a broader movement in Brazilian football to value the sport practiced by women, with Grêmio seeking to rescue the tradition of one of the biggest clubs in Rio Grande do Sul also in women's football.
