History
Grêmio Foot-Ball Santanense was founded on June 11, 1913, in Santana do Livramento, a gaucho city on the border with Uruguay. The name was inspired by Grêmio from Porto Alegre, while the red and white colors follow those of Internacional, an uncommon combination in the state's football. The club competes in professional gaucho football and has as its home the Honório Nunes Stadium, with an approximate capacity of 8,000 spectators. The local rivalry with 14 de Julho marks the football of Santana do Livramento. Among the achievements of Santanense are the title of Serie A3 of the Campeonato Gaúcho in 1967 and the Interior Gaucho Championship in 1937 and 1948.
