Grêmio Náutico União
Founded in 1911 in the city of Rio Grande, on the southern coast of Rio Grande do Sul, Grêmio Náutico União is one of the most traditional clubs in the interior of Rio Grande do Sul. The club carries a strong historical connection with the port community of the region and has been competing in state competitions for over a century.
History
Grêmio Náutico União was born at the beginning of the 20th century in Rio Grande, a port city that historically formed one of the most active sports centers in Rio Grande do Sul, alongside clubs such as Sport Club Rio Grande. Like many clubs founded in that period, the association emerged linked to nautical and social activities, later adopting football as its main competitive modality. Throughout the 20th century, the club alternated participations between the lower divisions of Rio Grande do Sul football, maintaining local relevance especially in competitions organized by the Rio Grande do Sul Football Federation outside the Porto Alegre axis. Regional rivalry with other associations from Rio Grande and Pelotas helped keep the club's tradition alive with its local supporters. In recent years, Grêmio Náutico União continues to operate in the lower divisions of the Rio Grande do Sul Championship, also functioning as a developer of athletes for larger clubs in the state, maintaining its identity as a historical representative of the city of Rio Grande in football.
