Gremio Novorizontino Women

Women's football team of Gremio Esportivo Novorizontino, based in Novo Horizonte, in the interior of São Paulo. It became one of the main forces in Brazilian women's football in the first half of the 2020s.

History

The women's department of Novorizontino was created in 2018, as part of the São Paulo club's strategy to expand its participation in national football beyond its men's team, which competes in Serie B of the Brazilian Championship. Over the following years, the team invested in youth development and strategic signings, gradually climbing the ranks in state and national competitions organized by the São Paulo Football Federation and the CBF. From 2022 and 2023 onwards, the team surprised by becoming competitive in the Brazilian Women's Championship, reaching the final stages of the competition and cup tournaments, surpassing historically more traditional clubs in the sport. The growth consolidated Novorizontino as a reference in women's football management in the interior of São Paulo, serving as a model for other smaller clubs to invest in the sport.
