Grêmio Prudente
Grêmio Prudente was a football club from Presidente Prudente, in the interior of São Paulo, that competed in Serie A of the Brazilian Championship in 2005 under Toyota sponsorship.
History
Founded in 1994 as Prudentópolis Esporte Clube, the team went through several changes in name and sponsorship throughout its history, also being known as Toyota-GP during a certain period. The club surprised Brazilian football by winning promotion to Serie A in 2004, competing in the top division in 2005 even though it was a small team from the interior of São Paulo, facing giants like Corinthians and São Paulo. After relegation, the club faced serious financial difficulties and drastically reduced its activities, ending participation in major professional competitions in the following years.
