Guarany de Camaquã
Guarany Futebol Clube, from Camaquã, is a club from Rio Grande do Sul founded in 1922. It is the main representative of football from the southern region of Rio Grande do Sul outside the Pelotas–Brasil de Pelotas duo, with participations in the Campeonato Gaúcho and in state access divisions.
History
Founded on June 11, 1922 in the city of Camaquã, Guarany emerged from the union of football practitioners from the Lagoa dos Patos region and early adopted the red, white and black colors that identify it to this day. The nickname 'Índio Capilé' became established in the Rio Grande do Sul sports press as a reference to the club's indigenous name. Throughout the 20th century, the club built its trajectory in amateur football and in regional championships of the Rio Grande do Sul interior, alternating periods of professionalization with phases of activity restricted to the local scope. The Carlos Alberto Rodrigues Dias Stadium became the stage for its matches and one of the city's most traditional sports venues. In recent decades, Guarany began competing in the access divisions of the Campeonato Gaúcho, facing clubs such as Pelotas, Brasil de Pelotas, São Luiz and Esportivo. The rivalry with clubs from the same region transformed their matches into classics of the southern state. The club maintains grassroots work and is a reference in the training of players from the Camaquã region, many of whom have pursued careers in clubs from the Rio Grande do Sul capital and Brazilian football.
