History
Founded on September 26, 1913 in the city of Sobral, in northern Ceará, Guarany Esporte Clube is one of the oldest sports institutions in the state. Born in a context of enthusiasm for football that was spreading across Brazil in the early twentieth century, the club quickly became the center of Sobral's sports life. Over more than a century of history, Guarany won numerous Ceará Championship titles, becoming one of the most traditional and victorious teams in the interior of the state. This trajectory of success earned it the status of the most historic club in the city of Sobral and one of the most respected in northeastern football. Estádio Junco, Guarany's home, is one of the historic venues of Ceará football and has hosted matches of great importance for the interior. The club developed several generations of players who later played for more prominent teams in Brazilian football. Guarany represents the identity and resilience of inland northeastern football against the hegemony of capital cities, maintaining itself as a relevant force in the state scene and symbol of Sobral's sports tradition over more than 110 years of existence.
