History

Founded in 1899 in the small village of Hoffenheim, in the state of Baden-Württemberg, TSG spent decades in German amateur football. The club's transformation began with the investment of Dietmar Hopp, a former student of the local academy and co-founder of SAP, from the 2000s onwards. With state-of-the-art infrastructure and strategic signings, Hoffenheim climbed rapidly through the German divisions, reaching the Bundesliga in 2007. In the 2008-09 season, it surprised German football by leading the Bundesliga for several rounds, drawing European attention. The club became an exporter of high-level talents. Roberto Firmino played for Hoffenheim from 2011 to 2015 before becoming a star at Liverpool and for the Brazilian national team. The club participated in the group stage of the UEFA Champions League in 2018-19, confirming its rise to the top European level. The PreZero Arena, in Sinsheim, with a capacity of 30,150 spectators, is considered one of the most modern facilities in German football.
