Humaitá Sports Club
Humaitá Sports Club is one of the most traditional football clubs in the state of Acre, based in Rio Branco. It is considered one of the pioneers of Acre football, with strong historical rivalry against Rio Branco-AC and Independência.
History
Founded in 1918, Humaitá is one of the oldest clubs in Acre football, emerging during the early stages of the state's sports organization, when Acre was experiencing the rubber boom economic cycle. The club adopted black and white colors and the nickname 'Índio' in reference to the cultural roots of the Amazonian region. Throughout its history, Humaitá competed in the Acre Championship in virtually every season, establishing itself as one of the main forces in local football, alongside rivals such as Rio Branco-AC, Galvez, and Independência. The classic against Rio Branco-AC is one of the most traditional sporting confrontations in Acre. With the late professionalization of football in the Amazonian region, Humaitá remained essentially an amateur and community club for decades, serving as a breeding ground for players for larger clubs in the state. Still today it regularly participates in competitions organized by the Acre State Football Federation.
