History
Founded on March 1, 1958, for decades it was a regional club without major continental expression. From the 2010s onwards, it invested heavily in its youth academy, becoming Ecuador's largest exporter of talents. In 2016 it was runner-up in the Copa Libertadores and in 2019 it won the CONMEBOL Sudamericana Cup. In 2022 it repeated the feat and became a two-time South American champion, consolidating itself as one of the most admired clubs in South America for its development model.
