Instituto Atlético Central Córdoba
Centennial club from the Alta Córdoba neighborhood, one of the protagonists of the traditional 'Córdoba derby' against Talleres. It is known by the historic nickname 'La Gloria' and its Presidente Perón stadium, with a capacity of 26,000 fans.
History
Instituto Atlético Central Córdoba was founded on August 8, 1918 by railway workers from the Locomotives section of the Central Córdoba Railway, initially under the name Instituto Ferrocarril Central Córdoba. The red and white colors, as well as the inspiration for the shield, came from the influence of Guillermo Dundas, a fan of the historic Alumni Athletic Club. The nickname 'La Gloria' emerged in the 1920s, after the club won four consecutive titles of the Córdoba Football League between 1925 and 1928, an achievement that marked the club's identity to the present day. Its stadium, Presidente Perón, had construction begun in 1948 with a loan from the Argentine federal government and was inaugurated on August 15, 1951, on the club's 33rd anniversary, in a friendly match against Racing Club. Today it has a capacity of approximately 26,000 spectators. After decades alternating between divisions of Argentine football, Instituto achieved promotion to the Primera División in November 2022, winning the promotion playoff (Reducido) against Estudiantes de Buenos Aires, returning to the elite of Argentine football after 17 years of absence.
