History
Esporte Clube Internacional was founded on May 19, 1949, in the city of Lages, on the mountainous plateau of Santa Catarina. Adopting red and white colors, the club quickly established itself as the main force of football in the mountain region. The pinnacle of the club's history came in 1965, when Inter de Lages won the Catarinese Championship, breaking the hegemony of coastal clubs and those from the Itajaí Valley and putting mountain football on the state's map. After decades of alternating periods of activity and financial difficulties, the club regained regional prominence in the 2010s, returning to compete in the elite of the Catarinese Championship and national competitions such as Série D and Copa do Brasil, always playing their matches at Estádio Vidal Ramos Júnior.
