History

Founded on September 18, 1913, in the city of Limeira, in the interior of São Paulo, Associação Atlética Internacional built throughout decades a history of persistence and regional pride. Competing mainly in São Paulo state championships of lower divisions, the club was rarely considered among the favorites for the state title. The most glorious moment in the club's history came in 1986, when Inter de Limeira conquered the São Paulo State Championship in surprising fashion. Defeating capital clubs with much more resources and tradition, the achievement reverberated throughout Brazilian football and marked an entire generation of Limeira fans. Throughout its existence, the club also participated in editions of the Copa do Brasil and even competed in Series B of the Brazilian Championship. Despite financial limitations compared to capital teams, Inter de Limeira keeps its tradition and identity alive in interior São Paulo football.
