The team combined organized marking with quick transitions and became one of the most respected in the country. The conquest of the 1975 Brazilian Championship came on December 14, at Beira-Rio, with a 1-0 victory over Cruzeiro in the final, goal by Figueroa. It was the first national title for Internacional and marked the beginning of a victorious cycle. The following year, the club repeated the feat and won the 1976 Brazilian Championship again, defeating Corinthians in the final.
