Internacional de Curitiba
Internacional was a club from Curitiba founded in 1912, linked to Joaquim Américo Guimarães. It won the Paraná State Championship in 1915, the first edition of the tournament, and gave rise to the current Athletico Paranaense.
History
Internacional emerged in Curitiba in 1912, by the initiative of Joaquim Américo Guimarães and associates of the Jockey Club Paranaense. The club's origin is linked to Praça Zacarias, where the headquarters of the Jockey Club was located. In 1915, Internacional conquered the Paraná State Championship and entered history as the first state champion of Paraná. Joaquim Américo Guimarães, a central figure of the club, lends his name to the Baixada Stadium, a historic home of Curitiba football and current Arena of Athletico Paranaense. In 1924, Internacional merged with América de Curitiba. From this union was born the Clube Atlético Paranaense, today called Athletico Paranaense.
