O Rolo Compressor foi o time do Internacional que conquistou seis campeonatos gaúchos consecutivos, de 1940 a 1945, jogando no Estádio dos Eucaliptos, em Porto Alegre.
Internacional – Steamroller
The Steamroller was the Sport Club Internacional squad that dominated the Gaucho Championship in the first half of the 1940s. The nickname arose from the way the team rolled over its opponents in Rio Grande do Sul.
History
Sport Club Internacional was founded on April 4, 1909, in Porto Alegre, by the Poppe brothers, with the proposal of being a club open to all. In the 1940s, the Colorado team experienced one of the most victorious phases of its history and became known as the Steamroller. The nickname refers to the team's performance, which won six consecutive Gaucho Championships from 1940 to 1945, and established itself as the greatest force in the state's football during the period. Highlights of this squad included striker Carlitos and winger Tesourinha. Estádio dos Eucaliptos, inaugurated in 1931, was Internacional's home during the Steamroller era. The stadium remained the club's main stage until the end of the 1960s, when it was replaced by Estádio Beira-Rio. The victorious phase of the 1940s is considered a milestone in Internacional's consolidation as a mass club in Rio Grande do Sul and as one of the protagonists of the Gre-Nal rivalry.
