History
Itumbiara Esporte Clube was founded in 1970, in the city of Itumbiara, in southern Goiás, on the banks of the Paranaíba River — the origin of the nickname Giant of the Valley. It plays its home matches at Juscelino Kubitschek Stadium, the JK, one of the main venues for football in interior Goiás. Throughout the decades, the club established itself as a force in the interior of Goiás State Championship, facing the traditional hegemony of Goiás, Vila Nova and Atlético Goianiense. It also had stints in national divisions, competing in editions of the lower division Brazilian championships and the Copa do Brasil. The pinnacle of its history came in 2008, when it won the Goiás State Championship for the first time, surpassing the major capital clubs and placing Itumbiara's name on the map of Brazilian football. The title remains the club's greatest glory and a landmark for football in interior Goiás.
