Ivinhema Football Club
Ivinhema Football Club is a Brazilian football club from the city of Ivinhema, in Mato Grosso do Sul, founded in 2006 as the successor to the former Ivinhema Esporte Clube. It is known by supporters as Azulão do Vale.
History
Ivinhema Football Club was born in 2006, inheriting the tradition of the defunct Ivinhema Esporte Clube, founded in 1986 and which had ceased operations in 2000. The new club began hosting its matches at the Luís Saraiva Vieira stadium, known as Saraivão. In 2008, the club experienced the pinnacle of its history by winning the Mato Grosso do Sul Championship title, defeating Misto 2-1 and 2-0 on aggregate. With the state title, Ivinhema secured a spot in the Copa do Brasil on two occasions: in 2009, when it was eliminated in the first round by Flamengo, and in 2010, when it was knocked out by Náutico, also in the initial stage of the competition. Nicknamed Azulão do Vale, the club remains one of the main forces in football in the interior of Mato Grosso do Sul, maintaining a historic rivalry with Naviraiense, its opponent in the 2009 state championship final.
