History

Jacareí Atlético Clube was founded on October 27, 1980, from an idea that emerged during a sports program on Radio Clube Jacareí. Its debut in professional competitions took place in 1981, in the Third Division of the São Paulo Championship. The main title came in 1988, with the conquest of the Third Division, currently Series A3. This result secured a place in the Second Division of 1989, but the team was relegated. Between 2000 and 2005, the club was managed by Sports International, led by Greek Stavros Papadopoulos, who participated in the construction of the stadium that bears his name. In 2014, the sports facility was condemned by City Hall, and the club withdrew from the 2015 São Paulo Championship. The stadium was reopened in 2018 after renovations. Jacareí's last professional competition was the Fourth Division of São Paulo in 2014.
