Esporte Clube Jacuipense

Esporte Clube Jacuipense is a Bahian club with recent history but meteoric rise in Northeast football. Founded in 2010, the club surprised by winning the Bahian Championship in 2022 and 2023, defeating Bahia and Vitória. The club became a symbol of football from inland Bahia.

History

Founded in 2010 in the municipality of Riachão do Jacuípe, in the backlands of Bahia, Jacuipense was born with the ambition of representing inland Bahia in professional football. In the early years, the club competed in the lower divisions of the Bahian Championship, building its structure and revealing young talents from the region. The major turning point in the club's history came in 2022, when Jacuipense won the Bahian Championship unexpectedly, becoming the first club from the interior to win the competition in the 21st century. The title had enormous national impact and put the Caiman on the map of Brazilian football. In 2023, the club went even further by winning the Bahian Championship again, consolidating its position as one of the main forces in Northeast football. With Arena Cajueiro as its stronghold, Jacuipense began competing for spots in national competitions such as Copa do Nordeste and Serie D of the Campeonato Brasileiro. The club's philosophy has always been based on valuing athletes from the region and on tactically well-worked football, generating a strong identity with the local supporters. The Caiman represents proof that Brazilian football goes far beyond the major centers.
