Grêmio Esportivo Juventus
Grêmio Esportivo Juventus is a traditional club from northern Santa Catarina, based in Jaraguá do Sul. It plays its home matches at Estádio João Marcatto and is a constant presence in the divisions of Catarinense football.
History
Grêmio Esportivo Juventus was founded in 1966 in Jaraguá do Sul, a city in the Itapocu Valley, in northern Santa Catarina, a region of strong European settlement and industrial tradition. Over the decades, the club established itself as the main football force in the city, alternating between the top division and lower divisions of the Catarinense Championship. Its maroon and white colors are a tribute to Juventus da Mooca, a São Paulo club that inspired its founding. Estádio João Marcatto became known as a difficult ground for the state's major clubs to visit, such as Avaí, Figueirense, Criciúma, Chapecoense and Joinville, which faced Juventus in several editions of the state championship. Despite having no major national titles, the club plays an important role in developing athletes and in the sporting representation of Jaraguá do Sul, maintaining activity in professional Catarinense football.
