History

KRC Genk was born in 1988 from the merger between KFC Winterslag and KFC Waterschei Thor, uniting football traditions from the Belgian Limburg region. It quickly established itself as one of the main forces in Belgian football, winning national titles and becoming a reference club for developing young talents. The club became internationally known for revealing players who stood out in major European leagues, consolidating a business model based on scouting and developing athletes before selling them to larger clubs. Playing at Cegeka Arena, Genk regularly competes in the Jupiler Pro League and has already participated in group stages of the Champions League and the Europa League, representing Belgian football in continental competitions.
