KV Kortrijk
Belgian club founded in 1970 from the merger of two local clubs, based in the city of Kortrijk, in West Flanders.
History
KV Kortrijk was born in 1970 from the merger between KM Kortrijk Sport and Koninklijke Voetbal Vereniging Kortrijk, unifying the city's professional football. Since then, the club has alternated seasons between the first and second divisions of Belgian football. In the 2000s and 2010s, the club established itself as a stable team in the Jupiler Pro League, regularly competing for European playoff positions and avoiding relegation in most seasons. The Guldensporen Stadium, with modest capacity, is known for the heated atmosphere of the local supporters, and the club is recognized for developing young players who later transfer to larger teams in Belgium and Europe.
