Lagarto Football Club was born in the municipality of Lagarto, in the interior of Sergipe, seeking to professionalize local football and serve as a counterpoint to the traditional clubs of the capital Aracaju. Throughout the 2010s and 2020s, the club invested in youth development and infrastructure, which enabled impressive achievements in the state scene. The team consolidated itself as one of the protagonists of the Sergipe Championship, disputing finals and qualifying for national competitions organized by the CBF, such as the Copa do Brasil and Serie D.
