LASK

LASK (Linzer Athletik-Sport-Klub) is one of the most traditional clubs in Austria, based in Linz, with consistent performance in the Austrian Bundesliga.

History

The club's origins date back to 1899, when Albert Siems founded the Linzer-Athletik-Sportklub 'Siegfried', focused on physical training. The club's first football match took place in 1908, giving rise to Linzer Sportklub (LSK), which in 1919 definitively adopted the name LASK. The main achievement in the club's history came in the 1964-65 season, when LASK won its only Austrian Bundesliga title, completing the double by also winning the Austrian Cup in the same season. In the following decades, the club alternated periods between the top tier and lower divisions of Austrian football, returning with strength from the 2010s onwards and consolidating itself as a recurring competitor in European tournaments such as the Europa League and the Conference League.
