Liga Deportiva Universitaria de Quito
Liga Deportiva Universitaria de Quito is Ecuador's most successful club and the country's only Copa Libertadores champion. Founded in 1930, LDU won important national and international titles, being recognized as the greatest power in Ecuadorian football.
History
LDU Quito wrote the most glorious chapter of Ecuadorian football in 2008, winning the Copa Libertadores, defeating Fluminense in the final on penalties, becoming Ecuador's only club champion of the competition. The club completed a historic year by also winning the Recopa Sudamericana in 2009 and reaching the final of the FIFA Club World Cup. Domestically, LDU is the greatest winner of the Ecuadorian Championship, with dozens of national titles.
