History

Founded on April 3, 1922 in Poznań, in the Greater Poland region, Lech Poznań became the most popular club in the city and one of the most important in Polish football. The nickname Kolejorz refers to the club's origins, linked to railway workers in the region, a heritage that remains part of the club's identity. The club won eight Polish Championship titles (Ekstraklasa), establishing itself as one of the greats of local football throughout the 20th century and early 21st century. Its national titles distributed across different decades demonstrate the institution's consistency and longevity. On the European stage, Lech Poznań delivered a historic performance in the UEFA Europa League in the 2010-11 season, reaching the quarter-finals by eliminating renowned clubs. The INEA Stadion, refurbished to host Euro 2012 — hosted in Poland and Ukraine — has a capacity of over 43,000 fans and is considered one of the best stadiums in Central Europe. The club is also recognized for developing and exporting Polish talents to Europe's major leagues, contributing decisively to the advancement of Polish football at the international level.
