Leyton Orient

Leyton Orient is a football club from the Leyton area, in the east side of London, founded in 1881. It plays its matches at Brisbane Road and is known as The O's.

History

The club was created in 1881 as Glyn Cricket Club and went through several name changes. It adopted the name Orient in 1888 and, in 1987, became Leyton Orient, a name it has kept until today. Its only season in the English top division was 1962-63, after achieving promotion in the second division in 1961-62. The club finished that championship in last place and was relegated. Orient was champion of the Third Division South in 1955-56 and the Third Division in 1969-70. It also reached the semi-finals of the FA Cup in 1977-78, when it was eliminated by Arsenal. More recently, it won the League Two title in the 2022-23 season and returned to the third division of English football.
