History

Los Angeles FC was founded in 2014 by a consortium of high-profile investors, including figures from sports and entertainment. The club made its debut in MLS in 2018, revealing from the start ambitions of becoming a continental powerhouse. The BMO Stadium — inaugurated in 2018 with a capacity of 22,000 fans — is considered one of the best football stadiums in the United States. With the arrival of Mexican Carlos Vela as the main star, LAFC dominated the 2019 MLS regular season, with Vela scoring 34 goals in a single season — a historic league record. The club stood out for its attacking football and its ability to attract major names from world football. In 2022, LAFC won its first MLS Cup title, defeating Philadelphia Union on penalties after a 3-3 draw. That same season, the club also won the Supporters' Shield championship. The squad featured names such as Gareth Bale, Giorgio Chiellini and Lorenzo Insigne, demonstrating the project's power of attraction.
