Luton Town Football Club
English club from the city of Luton, champion of the English League Cup in 1988 and which returned to the Premier League in the 2023-24 season after decades away from the elite.
History
Founded in 1885, Luton Town is one of the most traditional clubs in southern England, having competed in the English first division on several occasions throughout the 20th century. The club's peak came in 1988, when it won the English League Cup by defeating Arsenal in the final at Wembley, the greatest title in the history of the Hatters. After years competing in lower divisions of English football, the club experienced a remarkable renaissance, climbing successive divisions until returning to the Premier League in the 2023-24 season, a feat celebrated as one of the greatest promotion dramas in recent English football.
