Maccabi Tel Aviv is the most successful football club in Israel and one of the best-known in the Middle East on the European stage. Founded in 1906, even before the creation of the State of Israel, the club has a history deeply linked to Jewish identity and Zionism. The Bloomfield Stadium, located in Tel Aviv, is shared with other local clubs and has a capacity of approximately 29,000 fans.
History
Maccabi Tel Aviv dominated Israeli football since the creation of the national league, winning the majority of the Israeli Premier League titles. The club participated in various group stages of European competitions and eliminated Villarreal in the 2015-16 Champions League, causing one of the biggest surprises of the competition. The club developed important players for the Israeli national team and attracted international talent over the years. Maccabi is also one of the most recognized sports brands of the worldwide Jewish community, with teams in various sports.
