Founded in São José dos Campos, in the interior of São Paulo, Esporte Clube Manthiqueira built its trajectory competing in the lower divisions of the Paulista Championship, far from the spotlight of elite professional football. For many years, the club operated with modest structure, prioritizing the development of athletes and participation in regional competitions. The club's name gained national repercussion in 2021, when it eliminated São Paulo Futebol Clube in the Brazilian Cup, one of the most surprising results of the competition in that edition, winning the first leg 3-1 at Morumbi and managing to advance despite the loss in the second leg.
