Minas Brasília
Women's football club from Brasília that surprised the country by winning the Brazilian Women's Championship in its first seasons of existence. It was one of the most relevant projects in Brazilian women's football in the early 2020s.
History
Minas Brasília Football Club was founded in 2019, in the Federal District, with exclusive focus on women's football, at a time of growing investment in this sport in Brazil. Bringing together players from different states, the club surprised the national scene by reaching the Brazilian Women's Championship final in its debut season, in 2019, becoming champion. In the following year, 2020, Minas Brasília confirmed its good moment and won the national two-time championship, becoming one of the few clubs in recent history to win the tournament in their first two participations. The team stood out for an offensive playing style and for developing players who later reinforced other heavyweight teams in Brazilian women's football. After the period of greater prominence, the club faced structural and financial difficulties, common to several women's football projects in the country, gradually reducing its competitive activity at the national level in the following years. Nevertheless, Minas Brasília remains remembered as a case of rapid success and a reference in the recent history of women's football in Brasília.
