Mixto Sports Club
Mixto Sports Club is the most victorious and traditional club in the state of Mato Grosso, headquartered in Cuiabá. It dominated the Mato Grosso Championship for decades and represented the Central-West region in several editions of the Brazilian Championship, being the main symbol of Mato Grosso football.
History
Founded in 1948 in Cuiabá, Mixto Sports Club quickly became a reference in Mato Grosso football. The Galo built over the decades an impressive hegemony in the state championship, winning dozens of titles that made it the most successful club in the history of Mato Grosso football. The club competed in the Brazilian Championship Series B on several occasions, bringing the name of Mato Grosso to the national scene and facing teams from all regions of the country. These participations elevated the technical level of local football and inspired generations of athletes from the Central-West region. The Governador José Fragelli Stadium, the Douradão, became the temple of the Galo, site of great victories that remained engraved in the memory of Cuiabá fans. Mixto's fan base is considered one of the most passionate in Central-West football. With more than 70 years of history, Mixto remains a symbol of Mato Grosso football and a fundamental sports institution for the development of the sport throughout the state.
