Sport Club Nacional
Sport Club Nacional is one of the most traditional clubs in Amazonas, with a strong presence in Amazonian football throughout the twentieth century. Based in Manaus, the club competed in several editions of the Brazilian Championship in lower divisions and is a symbol of regional football.
History
Founded in 1913 in Manaus, Sport Club Nacional is one of the oldest clubs in the state of Amazonas. In its early decades, it was one of the protagonists of regional football, winning titles of the Amazonas Championship and forming generations of athletes from the northern region of Brazil. The club participated in editions of the Brazilian Championship in lower divisions, proudly representing Amazonian football on the national stage. The holding of 2014 World Cup matches in Manaus, with the construction of the Arena of Amazonia, brought spotlight to local football and highlighted the tradition of clubs like Nacional. Throughout its history, Nacional formed players who went on to bigger teams in Brazil, serving as a talent source for Amazonian football. The club maintains strong ties with the Manaus community and represents a fundamental part of the sports identity of the Amazon capital.
