History
Founded in 1943, Nantes developed in the 1960s and 1970s a collective style of play that became known as 'le jeu à la nantaise', influencing French football for decades. The club won eight national titles, with highlights being the titles in the 1994–95 and 2000–01 seasons. Marcelo Bielsa coached the club briefly, leaving his philosophical mark. The tragedy of player Emiliano Sala's death in an airplane accident in 2019, on his way to Cardiff City, deeply marked the club's recent history.
