History
Napoli began 2022-23 after losing historic names such as Insigne, Mertens and Koulibaly. To replace them came Georgian Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and South Korean Kim Min-jae, who became central pieces of Luciano Spalletti's team. With offensive and intense football, the team shot to the top early in the first half of the season. The title was confirmed on May 4, 2023, in a 1-1 draw with Udinese, in Udine, with a goal by Victor Osimhen. Napoli finished Serie A with 90 points, 16 ahead of runner-up Lazio. Osimhen was the league's top scorer with 26 goals. It was the club's first Scudetto in 33 years, after the titles of 1986-87 and 1989-90. In the Champions League, the team won their group, thrashed Liverpool 4-1, eliminated Eintracht Frankfurt in the round of 16, and fell in the quarter-finals against Milan.
