History

Newcastle United was founded in 1892 from the merger of Newcastle East End and Newcastle West End. The club experienced its golden age in the early decades of the twentieth century, winning multiple English titles and cups, and shone again in the 1990s under Kevin Keegan's management, forming one of the most spectacular attacks in the Premier League. After the club's acquisition by a consortium led by the Saudi sovereign wealth fund PIF in 2021, Newcastle underwent significant financial reinforcement, returning to the UEFA Champions League and winning the English League Cup in 2025, ending decades without major titles.
