History

Newell's Old Boys was a two-time Argentine champion in the early 1990s and reached the final of the 1992 Copa Libertadores. The club had remarkable stints from coaches like Marcelo Bielsa, who transformed Argentine football with his offensive and intense style. Lionel Messi began his career in the club's youth categories before transferring to Barcelona. The club's stadium was renamed in honor of Marcelo Bielsa, recognizing the coach's legacy.
