History
Nottingham Forest was founded in 1865 and is one of the oldest clubs in professional football. In the second half of the 1970s, the club was transformed by the duo Brian Clough and Peter Taylor, who took over in 1975. Promoted to the first division in 1977, Forest won the English championship in the 1977-78 season right on their debut and also won the League Cup in 1978. In the following season, the team maintained a long unbeaten run of 42 games, a record in English football at the time. In 1979, Forest defeated Malmö 1-0 in the European Cup final in Munich, with a goal by Trevor Francis. In 1980, they repeated the achievement by defeating Hamburg 1-0 in Madrid, with a goal by John Robertson. The club also won the 1979 UEFA Super Cup and the 1979 League Cup.
