History

Olympique de Marseille was founded in 1899 and quickly established itself as one of the greatest clubs in French football, with a passionate fanbase in southern France. In the 1990s, under the command of Bernard Tapie, the club formed a squad of stars that won the UEFA Champions League in 1993, defeating Milan in the final, becoming the only French club to lift the trophy. The club maintains a strong rivalry with Paris Saint-Germain in the so-called 'Le Classique', one of the most heated matches in French football.
